Dear Neighbors in Farmington and Chesterville –
I would like to introduce myself as your candidate for the Maine House of Representatives. I was born and grew up in Aroostook County, where I learned the value of hard work early, picking potatoes with my family when I was 10 years old. I received my education at the University of Maine and Duke University. My wife (and high school sweetheart), and I moved to Farmington in 1976 when she was a student at UMF, where we raised our two children and have come to love Franklin County.
I worked in Emergency Medicine in Farmington my entire career, initially as a first responder/Paramedic, then as a Physician Assistant at the Franklin Memorial Hospital ER. I was the one you would see at 3 a.m. when your baby was having a croup attack, or when you were having chest pain. I retired in 2020, and have devoted my time since then dealing with community food insecurity by helping to organize and work at the St. Joseph Center Food Pantry. Earlier this year, I was elected to the Farmington Board of Selectman. I’m also a member of the Rotary Club of Farmington, on the Board of Directors of the Care and Share Food Closet in Farmington.
I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt message of hope and determination for our community. It is time for a fresh voice, one that embodies common sense and traditional Maine values to guide our future. We face pressing issues that require honest discussion and effective solutions – from ensuring medical services that prioritize health care accessibility, to combating hunger in our neighborhoods, to addressing the staggering economy. How much was your last oil bill? Or bag of groceries? Electricity bill? Compare that to four years ago. The price of a home? I am meeting working people from my community who say that they are barely able to pay rent on an apartment and have basically given up on the thought of actually owning a home. We cannot continue along the same path defined by past legislatures; we need change that reflects our shared beliefs; in hard work, personal responsibility, and respect for one another. I stand firmly for fiscal responsibility, and the rights of citizens to protect themselves, while also advocating for parental rights that empower families to shape their children’s futures.
I promise to be a committed advocate for our community’s voice, ensuring that your concerns are heard and addressed. Together, we can work towards impactful change that will uplift us all.
